I've just started reading
The Confusion which is the second book in Neal Stephenson's 'Baroque Cycle' which in turn is a kind of prequel to the amazing
Cryptonomicon - an amazing blend of science fiction, philosophy, cryptography, money and power.
The Confusion picks up where
Quicksilver left off, and throws you right back into a mix of piracy, espionage and international conspiracy. I've never read anything that transports you so vividly back in time and the buzz from the first book is right back again and I can't put it down. I won't try and write reviews of them, but the reviews on Amazon should convince you to give them a go if you need any encouragement.
I recommend reading Cryptonomicon before starting Quicksilver and The Confusion, and the last part to the Baroque Cycle - The System of the World is out in September. I can't wait.
